Name : ‘Kothmale’ of Nuwara Eliya District.

The whole of kothmale falls within the kandy and hatton plateau and it situated at a of about tree thousand to five thousand feet above see level. It has a relatively cool climate for sri lanka with temperature ranging from 65 to 70 to degrees F. the average rain fall is about 80 to 150 inches, and is well distributed throughout the year. it rain during the monsoon (between may and September) and inter monsoonal period of march -may and October – November. The weather between January and march is usually dry.

The low-lying areas in kothmale-oya basin, polwathura, ambathalawa, and sangilipalama. The villages of kalapitiya malhewa ,ramboda, delunthalawa and kadadorapitiya are situated in rocky ereas.kothmale is a broken country of bold precipitous hills and deep vallys with the range of mountains surrounded by plains. The high mountains are beautifully located. Inhabitant say that from the top of the thispane mountain one can see thirty more mountains. These high mountain have not escaped the aesthetic appreciation of the villagers, who have composed poem describing the mountain around them.
Kothmale is not a Densely populated Area. but people of all the racists is living in harmony. Majority is sinhala. Tamil and muslim minority’s is also there.

Important places: Kothmale tank and power project is the most popular. Kothmale maha saya, the second largest sthupaya in srilanka ,is also located in Kothmale.. It was late Mr. Gamini disanayaka’s idea. Project was started 2decate a go. but still It unfinished. because of limited fund. and you can help to built it by Donating some money.
‘Pusulpitiya Rajamaha viharaya’ is the most historical monument in the Area. It has long history. and have a collection of Hundred of antion Buddha statues, in vesak poya days lot of people’s are gather to worship the temple.

Youth: youth of Kothmale are not lackey. Because they des not have necessary in infrastructure for Education, sport’s or employment. To get those facilities they have travel else where. If the Government can provide necessary facilities then it will Definitely help to develop Kothmale and their youth.
Livelihood : Agriculture is the livelihood of Majoraty’, Paddy, tea, and vegetable are the main plants.
